The slit-lamp examination usually forms part of a comprehensive eye exam. The doctor can use this instrument to observe the eye's front tissues in detail and determine whether there are any abnormalities i.e. Cataract. Slit-Lamp examination usually checks the front portion of the eye which includes Eyelids, Conjunctiva, Sclera, Cornea, Iris, Pupil, Crystalline Lens, Retina and Optic Nerve (with VOLK Lens) etc
